Noun Construction

Here are some morphemes. combine them to make as many different nouns as you can and then answer the questions:

-'s
-er
farm
green
house
land
wash
white

1. List all the words you made.
2. Measured in morphemes, how long is your longest noun? What is it? Are there more than one like it? What is your shortest noun? Is there more than one like that?

3. You should have noticed some patterns in ordering these morphemes and that some of the morphemes can go, say, in first position while others cannot. You could not, for example, begin a noun with -'s.
A. Describe your findings in terms of what kind(s) of noun morphemes can go into which position in the noun.
B. Describe in particular how the -er morpheme functions. what kind of morpheme is it?
